Antalya Elmalı Müzesi

The Antalya Elmalı Museum, the official name, is located in a former government building dating from 1941. It was opened to visitors on 13.06.2011. The museum has over 2400 m2 of interior space and eight exhibition rooms on two floors.

The 4000 m2 large garden of the museum is used as an open exhibition area. Some examples of regional finds such as sarcophagi, inscriptions, architectural fragments, altars and stelae are exhibited in a typological order.

Elmali and its surroundings have been the scene of the development of many civilizations from the Neolithic to the present day. The archaeological excavations in the region indicate the presence of very high and diverse cultures in the region.

At Elmalı the so-called Elmalı treasure was found, consisting of 1,900 silver coins (1,400 Lydian coins and 14 extremely rare decadrachms) from the time of the Attic League. The originals can be found in the archaeological museum in Antalya for safety's sake, copies of some coins are exhibited in Elmalı .
